Jared Wilson is making the most of every snap and is turning heads in his first year of starting experience at UGA. As a redshirt junior, he has spent the majority of his collegiate career patiently sitting, waiting, and learning behind former Bulldogs center, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger. As Wilson stepped into the starting role at the beginning of this season he showed to be more than adequately prepared for the job.

During this season he has been extremely effective in both pass and run block. In 431 pass-blocking opportunities, he has allowed 0 sacks, 0 QB hits, and only 4 hurries per PFF. Considering the quality of defensive fronts faced - Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, Ole Miss - it shows that he can succeed in going toe-to-toe with some of the best interior defenders in the country.

In the run game, he has also shown the ability to be an adequate run blocker. He currently has posted a 77.9 run-blocking grade per PFF. He has shown a high football IQ by demonstrating his ability to effectively apply call-out blocking assignments and create leverage when blocking. He displays good movement skills both getting to the second level and pulling around the edge.

With almost any player in their first year of starting experience, what Wilson lacks more than anything is consistency in reps and technical development. He has played less than 1,000 collegiate snaps and it shows at times with inconsistent play. He needs to develop better hand technique and better habits at the point of attack with his body position and heads-up blocking. All of these are coachable and will only continue to improve with time and experience. With an outlook as positive as that, it is not hard to see why he is a top 100 player for me and my Center #1 as it currently sits in this draft.
