I wanted to get out a three-round mock draft before the combine and while I am a little late, I used rankings and data from before the combine. It was a goal of mine to put one of these together to realistically look at where players have a chance to fall due to team needs and positional value.
It does make me skeptical of how many Day 2 RBs, LBs, and TEs we will see in this draft. I also think there will be more of those premium positions that rise in the back of round three to fill some of those pressing needs. Tackle and Edge specifically felt like there was an enormous drop-off once the final player in a tier fell off the board.
I am excited to see the numbers from the combine. It won't make guys leap a day or even a round, but some of those tight position battles could easily be settled by some stellar performances. Some battles that I will specifically be looking at are Jer'Zhan Newton vs Byron Murphy II, Junior Colson vs Edgerrin Cooper, and Chris Braswell vs Adisa Isaac.
I hope you enjoy this one and expect a two-round post combine next week. Prost!
*I also projected a trade between Pittsburg and Chicago. PIT sends picks 51 and 120 to CHI for Justin Fields.
